Minutes from Men’s Ministry Strategy Team Meeting on December 4, 2006

 

 

 

Those in attendance: Gary Clark, John Cook, Dick Franzen, Bob Papertsian, Bud Reading, Sam Rodriguez, Herb Symmes, Ron Vliet

 

 

 

DURING THE NEXT 4 MONTHS:

 

            --Begin a Senior Men’s Venue for getting closer to God and fellowship with each other

                        --Recruit a few pivotal seniors to spearhead this

                        --Open this to men 65-90 years of age

                        --Like the name “Wise Guys”

                        --Maybe introduce a spin off group to do service project once a month

                       

            --Plant the seed with the Prayer Breakfast men to do a service project within the

               next 6 months

 

            --Begin putting together a website link for Men’s Ministry.  Change from Men’s Life on

               FCC website to Men’s Ministry

           

            --Source out a bible study for Single Men

 

            --Have a corporate speaker meeting (Entry level event)

                        --Some of the names are Fouad Faris, Brian Doyle, John Rankin

                                    --John Rowland was discussed but was felt by the committee that

                                       he needed more time to heal and repent.  Also did not want attendees

                                       showing up with preconceived attitudes

                        --Sell tickets ahead of time to add value to the event

                        --With certain speakers, we would be able to open it up to the women

 

            --Two of us will be going to Congress for George Barna training on Feb 1, 2007

                        --We can take four.  If you are interested let Bob know.

 

            --Push hard in all venues--VNE Iron Sharpens Iron Conference on March 24th in Bloomfield

                        --Keynote speakers are Tony Evans and Bob Lepine

 

            --Have different committee members speak to the new members when they are given information

              during orientation about the ministries at FCC

 

  

 

FUTURE ACTIVITIES:

 

            --Promote Promise Keepers with a hope of getting a few vans filled with men to go to the

               PK conference during the spring/summer

 

            --Send some of the committee to Man in the Mirror training when it is in the greater N.E. area

 

            --Have a prayer, praise, and worship evening with men from multiple churches

 

            --Have a day in late spring to help out at Camp Hope

 

            --Have a coffee house with Turning Point where Men’s Ministry sponsors the event but

               the entire congregation is invited

 

            --Start planning corporate event every quarter

 

            --Father-son/mentor-mentee best ball golf tournament preceded by a breakfast with

              a speaker having a Christian message

 

            --Fine tune Men’s Ministry Mission Statement

 

            --Seriously consider how we can offer a venue using the resource material “Wild at Heart”

 

            --Develop a strategy to have as many of the 100+ uninvolved men begin attending at least one

              of the Men’s Ministry venues

 

            --Recruit more brothers to lead High School Boys Bible Study and Christian Service Brigade

 

 

 

BY THE GRACE OF GOD WHERE WE WANT TO BE IN 2-3 YEARS:

 

            --Increase the number of brothers who are in healthy Covenant Groups

 

            --Increase the number of brothers who understand the importance of being a man of God

              and live it

 

            --Have a full fledged mentor program up and running where many boys without a

               father or a non existent father have a Christian man be part of their lives

 

            --Breaking out from the 4 walls of FCC by bringing God’s church to the world

                        --Men going on missions trips

                        --Men doing service where God’s love is experienced/expressed

                        --Working with men from other churches
