he Gospel of Luke, 1:1-24, Dedication to Theophilus. Luke, the author of this Gospel intended its reading to be followed by The Book of Acts, which is part 2 of his series of two volumes taken together is the Gospel that is Jesus Himself, in His actual person and life. Acts is the Gospel of Jesus proclaimed and lived by Him through the action of the Holy Spirit in the lives of followers in the Church; showing both the works that Jesus is the Christian Gospel, both as a unique event and a pattern of life. The way of Christ in the Gospel is seen to be the way of the Christian in Acts. Lordship and discipleship are inseparable themes in both. It is believed he was to write a 3^rd, but never did, or it went among the missing. I would suggest we read Acts next in deference to good Luke’s intentions. Antiquity, 2200 years ago makes much of history difficult to completely recover, but in praising God then we can be ever so thankful for this Gospel’s recording, and its full recovery. Let’s begin, “¹ Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us, ²just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us, ³it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, ⁴that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.” Umm, first of all, we really do not know who this fellow Theophilus is, but scholars seem to think he was a person in Rome, and who may have been a Governor, for “excellent/excellency”, was a term applied to such station. It is believed this Gospel was written about 75-85 AD in Corinth by the Gentile physician, Luke, a Syrian from Antioch, a bachelor, who died in Boeotia in central Greece at about the age of 85. Because of his vocation, this Gospel is considered most accurate and authentic, 1) because, he drew much from Mark (the first Gospel writer) also from Peter, John, James, Paul as well as other Apostolic contemporaries, 2) he did extensive research possibly even having interviewed many others, laymen, alive then who were eyewitnesses to the life and times of Jesus, and 3) as a constant companion to super Apostle, Paul (Luke teamed up with Paul about 51 AD at Troas where he may have ministered to Paul in his sickness which was during his initial mission into Greece, and as far as Philippi, in Macedonia, but there is some consideration given that he may have been with Paul in Galatia before coming to Troas.), he learned much during their missionary travels up until Paul’s martyrdom in Rome, and lastly, 4) possibly even Mary, His mom, who could have been still alive around the age of 85 or so. We actually do not know when she died, given that, this dating and the dating provided here, its writing may be earlier still and that would make Mary younger still. The Gospel was not something said about Jesus, no, it was something said by Jesus to mankind through the Church. How this was done remained a mystery, but the first Christians saw it as the action of the Holy Spirit (sound familiar? Bud always said our Breakfast operated under the direction of the Holy Spirit) prompting them, in worship and in life, to discover the present reality of Christ. Paul was most insistent that his preaching was not his, but rather the Lord Christ himself who was proclaiming the Gospel in His own manner through His Christians. This means that while the Gospel is “about” Him in this way, it allows Him to speak for Himself. It was necessarily preaching rather than teaching just as James later said Christians did not go from education to faith, but from faith to education, to works of faith. They heard the Gospel, then they wanted to be taught more about it. John’s Birth Announced to Zacharias “⁵ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea (This guy is Herod the Great” whose grandfather had been governor of Edom, just south of Judea. His dad, Antipater, was made a governor of Judea by Julius Caesar and was later succeeded by Herod, following being named “King of the Jews by the Roman Senate), a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah (King David formed 24 divisions after the crowning of Solomon who were descendants of Aaron, priests, who were to assigned to perform temple duties at major feasts [Passover, Pentecost & Tabernacles], and the division of Abijay was the “eighth’ [1Chronicles 24:10] of those 24.) His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth (Herb’s, double-portion). ⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. ⁷ But they had no child because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.” These 2 were very good Jews, law-abiding and upright in their community. Zacharias, “⁸ So it was, that while he was serving as priest before God in the order of his division, ⁹ according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot fell (a sort of flip of a coin, the outcome of which, God was recognized to have decided upon) to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord (the Holy of Holies). ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people was praying outside at the hour of incense. ¹¹ Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. ¹³But the angel said to him, ‘Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. ¹⁴ And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. ¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. ¹⁶ And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. ¹⁷ He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. ¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, ‘How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years.’ ¹⁹ And the angel answered and said to him, ‘I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. ²⁰ But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.’” Okay, so, yeah, it went like this: he went in, met an angel, Gabriel, who told him they’d have a child and that Zacharias is to name him, John (traditionally, the father granted the name), but he questioned that, so Gabriel muted him till the day of John’s birth. Within this are revealing observations to be noted: 1) Zacharias was given an awesome responsibility at the temple that day; it was his turn to enter and it was the “hour of incense”, the burning of which were the prayers of the multitude out-of-doors being sent up to God, the incense sweetened them to His pleasure. 2) God gave the name for the child to be called, John. This is an instance of reporting the name to all of us was God’s will that Luke was inspired to repeat here which is continued recognition that Scripture is inspired by God, not men; we simply write what we hear God saying—i.e., what He feels necessary to be repeated to others. 3) Wine. John would not partake in any wine or other alcoholic beverages. Why? In the day, their day, and in the Old Testament, wine was a prophetic protest against a sophisticated civilization that had forgotten God. Some people in the OT (Nazirites, Rechabites) saw the vine (its product wine) as a symbol of Israel’s desertion of God. You see, in the desert where there was no vine or pomegranate (Jer. 12:2) and she had been loyal to God, but in Canaan, the land of vines and olives (Deut. 8:8), Israel became unfaithful to God. There was a great deal of sexual sin, and idolatry in Canaan, and cultic prostitution was important in encouraging their gods to mate so that the land would be fertile and rain would come. Israel was unfaithful to God in Canaan by following other gods and breaking the Commandments. This day, God wanted to ensure that Israel, and other Gentiles, would know John’s faithfulness, the sign of which, he “¹⁵… shall drink neither wine nor strong drink.” unlike his countrymen who did so in Canaan. 4) John was granted “the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb”. At that time, God granted His Spirit selectively till Pentecost when He was given freely to all peoples for the asking. 5) Gabriel, the angel. Angels are a tangible visible way to present a religious experience, God knows that, and when He sends one, it then is important; us humans who might receive such a visit, the impact of which would be profoundly significant, sufficiently so, that we would be greatly encouraged to make it known and why, to others. Examples of this were, of course, the spirit “in bodily form” at the baptism of Jesus, and too, on the Mt of Olives when one arrives to provide our Lord strength to endure the forthcoming horrors of crucifixion. We will see them figuring prominently in Acts. The ancient world believed in the existence of invisible forces, good and evil forces that seemingly became apparent following their exile, 586 BC, picturing such that surrounded the throne of God helped to fix their minds on the Glory of God, something that is beyond our human understanding. So, angels are messengers sent by God, genderless except for the sake of appearance. Gabriel is an archangel, along with Michael, and according to the Book of Enoch (Enoch was mostly excluded from Christian biblical canons, and is now regarded as Scripture only by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church.), there are 5 more, Raphael (in the Catholic Apocrypha), Uriel, Saraqael, Raguel, and Remiel. Notice all are men? A brief sidebar on that subject; Jophiel/Dina was described as an angel of the seventh heaven, a Cabalistic (relating to or associated with mystical interpretation or esoteric doctrine) guardian of the Torah (and wisdom itself), who taught 70 languages to souls at the dawn of creation. Most references to angels in religious texts (those texts do not necessarily mean the Bible, explicitly, or implicitly, but Biblically, when found, are masculine) describe them as men, but sometimes they're women. People who have seen angels report meeting both sexes. Sometimes the same angel (such as Archangel Gabriel) shows up in some situations as a man, in others, as women. There is nothing in the Bible making mention of such a thing. Shall we continue then? Okay, so, “²¹And the people waited for Zacharias, and marveled that he lingered so long in the temple (it did not sound much like a long conversation, but perhaps the usual process was quick and easy with the incense). ²²But when he came out, he could not speak to them; and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple (yup, right-on brothers), for he beckoned to them and remained speechless.” God told him what He was going to do. To reinforce that, his speechlessness, and too, later the birth of John rendered God’s will, very powerful, worth a listen and to heed. If God could take away your speech, answer your prayers for a child following years of bareness, at an old age, then I would think I would start listening to Him. We should also be convinced. “²³ So it was, as soon as the days of his service were completed, that he departed to his own house. ²⁴ Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months, saying, ²⁵ ‘Thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when He looked on me, to take away my reproach among people.’” To be barren in the day, even today, all women wish for the opportunity to bare a child, to choose, rather than being mandated, no. It was looked upon as a curse of sorts, embarrassing, stressful, reproached of by the community, uncomfortable. God provided Elizabeth deliverance from such scorn, and certainly, their days following were filled with much joy and gladness, just as God had promised. Jesus was actually raised from the dead, and the reason this was such a tremendous truth was the fact that if He could be raised from the dead, others would also be raised. Thus heaven is real, we are all pilgrims and strangers, but one day we shall be at home, and what joy and peace, what gladness of heart, singing and praising God from the throne that day will certainly be! God is real: the spiritual world is real! The message clearly points out the fact that the law of Moses is not fulfilled when kept by the letter (it's reading). You are just to obey the law from the heart. Amen.

These prayers, collectively are being prayed by all of us this week ,in the precious name of our Lord, our Savior and our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, who taught us to “pray, then, in this way: Our Father….Amen. Thanks be to God! FORGIVE US ALL OUR SINS.

? “I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.” (Romans 5:30).

Please pray for Paul Delude, that God preserve and grant him good health and long life. Pray too, for Tim Towler who had surgery on is back and is still hospitalized, pray too for Dave Fabas who is recovering from hip-replacement surgery, Linda and Jim Johnston, for Claude Murray’s headaches, back pain, and continued cardiac evaluations, for Jerome’s health and for Mary, his wife. Dottie is suffering pain in her leg, and too, her hearing is severely impaired, and too, John needs healing of his knee. There is so many more, too, to pray for. Help all our brothers and sisters Lord, please help them. Please heal them.

We are now planning our Christmas party; 1^st Saturday in December in the afternoon from 3 – 6:30PM. Mark that date please, let’s make it the best ever birthday party for Jesus. Amen?

We had another great day at the MPB. PTL! A very, very full house, very exciting and exhilarating being with Jesus and all our brothers … the Word continues to get out about Jesus’ presence and His special guests: Popa, and the Holy Spirit who always arrive early to help out & clean up. For that thy name is near thy wondrous works.” September 13, 2025, Proverbs, Chapter 10:15-32 A DISCIPLINED LIFE LEADS TO LIFE WHILE REJECTION OF CORRECTION LEADS TO RUIN: Contrast of Wealth and Poverty “¹⁵ You know that the wise have a treasure of knowledge and wisdom on their lips, but the foolish are ruined by their own silly chatter,” (the wise have treasured knowledge to share; fools blabber everything that amounts to nothing). “¹⁶ wages of the righteous is life, but the earnings of the wicked are sin and death.” (the righteous have earned the good life; a fool’s production makes for pride that is sin, and that leads to destruction too).

Discipline and speech: “¹⁷whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray” (those teachable earn knowledge that is to profit in wisdom that is their gain-i.e., success and virtue; a fool rejects correction, the result of which is madness and ruin because of silly sinful pride that, helps not, others). “¹⁸ Liars secretly hoard hatred; fools openly spread slander.” (this saying says these two forms of sin are to be condemned-i.e., the one lies to cover-up his animosity toward another by assassinating his character with deceitful words and intensions; the fool, on the other hand, expresses hatred for another by openly gossiping and faulting him for it; both are hypocritical foolishness that should never to be given consideration). “¹⁹ The more talk, the less truth; the wise measure their words.” (Solomon alerts us to be aware when hearing too many words, especially words that are harmful, untrue, or foolish that represent views that we should not squander our time on; the wise, on the other hand, measure their words out carefully, most efficiently they are restrained to accomplish good). “²⁰ The speech of a good person is worth waiting for; the blabber of the wicked is worthless.” (who are we to listen too … wise godly speech or that which is empty and worth nothing? Don’t waste your time on silliness; spend it on something having worth … that should be obvious, but if you feel otherwise, then you best wizen-up). “²¹ The talk of a good person is rich fare for many, but chatterboxes die of an empty heart. Fear-of-God Expands Your Life” (we gain from valuable words; the swuawking of fools is worthless … the Fear-of-God is the great enabler of discernment Who broadens horizons). “²² God's blessing makes life rich; nothing we do can improve on God.” (the Fear-of-God is at it again! It is so! We are so very rich, why, because as God’s children, all that He provides us, gifts us, is worth far beyond what we could do on our own. We cannot possibly improve on God, but God can and does, improve us if we will only let him – come, win God’s lottery that is not always money, mind you, no, its peace and a spiritual awakening to His presence in our lives; come, you need to come to Him to disappoint Him not!).

Wisdom vs. Foolishness: “²³ An empty-head thinks mischief is fun, but a mindful person relishes wisdom.” (empty headedness = the fool and that fool wastes his life away on nonsense, whereas the mindful doesn’t; he spends his life’s time on worthwhile pursuits that is to profit him materially and spiritually-i.e., doing it good and right … that is where the real fun is! PTL). “²⁴ The nightmares of the wicked come true; what the good people desire, they get.” (fate, ah, the fate of the wicked vs. the desires of the righteous, that is the question - God answers the wicked’s dreams of fear, that is fear, real fear, that sin inevitably brings with it, death, but good people, fear not the good death, for righteousness’ desire rewards plenty rather than the fateful death of sin). “²⁵ When the storm is over, there's nothing left of the wicked; good people, firm on their rock foundation, aren't even fazed.”, aka, “²⁵ When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the foundation of the righteous is everlasting” (King James Version (KJV), New King James Version (NKJV), New American Standard Bible (NASB), New Living Translation (NLT). (wicked come and go, short-lived often are they, but good people, the God-Fearing, endure the trials and tribulations of this life with confidence because God has prepared us for them, therein is a portion of the foundation Solomon speaks to; warnings and perpetration provide for a more stress-free life that extends us onto a ripe old age and eternity – we can’t outdo Gad, can we?!). “²⁶ A lazy employee will give you nothing but trouble; it's vinegar in the mouth, smoke in the eyes.” (to be lazy is a horror … it is so; the lazy are abhorrent to be round, so much so that it hurts inside … Ol Sol likens them to smoke in the eyes, vinegar on the teeth … how’s-bout pealing an onion, to tear for – that ain’t fun either!). “²⁷ The Fear-of-God expands your life; a bad life is a short life.” (Fear-of-God, ah, we have discussed fearing God, at considerable length and many times through out the Bible; it is to see God as a wonderful father who loves us completely, without reservation as agape [agape love is a selfless, unconditional, and sacrificial act of the will that seeks the welfare of others, even enemies, demonstrated by God's own love for humanity and commanded in John 13:34-35: "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another". This love is not an emotion but a determined choice to put another's needs above one's own that is characterized by patience, kindness, humility, and perseverance, as described in 1 Corinthians 13, “the love chapter”, qualities to help and guide us, God gifts us with what we ask for, but, only that which is good for us - God is the one we revere in awe and honor, whom we never wish to disappoint – knowing this brings peace, rest and a long life, conversely, a life without God, in it, is a shortened one because such is a life without ultimate meaning or purpose that comes only from our Creator. Without Him in our life, then it is one that is a futile existence devoid of objective morality or eternal destiny). “²⁸ The aspirations of good people end in celebration; the ambitions of bad people crash.” (Again, we see the difference between good and evil. There is hope in righteousness that is to bring gladness and joy; the hopes of the wicked come to nothing, and in their wickedness, there is only punishment-i.e. to crash is utter destruction).

Destiny of Righteous vs. Wicked: “²⁹ God is solid backing to a well-lived life, but he calls into question a shabby performance.” (it is how you live your life, in it with God or not; live it full strength, securely is the upright – the workers of inequity come to destruction; God’s way is principles sealed with commandments to provide safety and security vs. judgment and ruin for the bad boys). “³⁰ Good people last - they can't be moved; the wicked are here today, gone tomorrow.” (as God’s chosen, we aren’t moved or shaken loose from God at our right hand (Psalm 16:18); we endure and are ever-so stable and secure living this life knowing we will live on into eternity vs. those who could care even less for God are doomed forever to eternal damnation). “³¹ A good person's mouth is a clear fountain of wisdom; a foul mouth is a stagnant swamp.” (you ain’t pretty spewing foul judgments everywhere; few to none listen for it is in the our seeing, that we hurt so, watching you condemn yourself that way, vs. the upright who continuously gift us with joy and God’s wisdom that is so uplifting; be positive, don’t dive crash). “³² The speech of a good person clears the air; the words of the wicked pollute it.” (again, Jesus says to love one another, in that, don’t defile His love with ugly words for it is the good air we breathe; those of the wicked choke on their stench). In summary then, our Lord blesses us every day if only we would receive Him as first in it-i.e., possess the Fear of God, wholly. He, God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit as one, give us so, so much when we chose wisely and do diligence to abide in His will. Trust Him and be ever so conscious of his presence at your right hand (Psalm 16:18) and when he speaks to you, John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice...", know that, and just as Matthew said in chapter 6, “³³ … seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. ³⁴Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”, and " … my yoke is easy, and my burden is light", (Matthew 11:30). Trust me, it doesn’t get any better than that. I am a knower because each pearl of the wisdom above has rung true for me. I see Him every day working in my life, and He will do the same for you … lighten up; He’ll give you a hand with YOUR life too; I promise, but more importantly, He guarantees it! Amen.

? “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6) Every Wed. is “Prayday” for the kids…fasting is good…not required, just pray. This is a good thing to do for He WILL know you & all our kids are bathed in prayer! Joyfully we serve You, Lord. See attachment.

Brother and Sisters, Please observe the purpose of the “Praylist”, that being, we pray these prayers together each week till you receive the next one. Praying together daily and consistently is so powerful knowing our hearts are bound one unto the other seeking God’s help in all ourlives. After I post them, I then pray over them when I burn them on a rock in my yard.

? “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks. For that thy name is near thy wondrous works.” September 27, 2025, Proverbs, Chapter Proverbs 11:16-31, A GOD SHAPPED LIFE: What does your life mean, to you, to others? Have you ever given that any thought? If you have decided to follow Jesus then you realize how important your life is. If you have not yet decided, then you are missing out on a great deal of what is out there for you to enjoy. Food for thought?! Because you are reading this now, then there must be a spark that might ignite some interest in what Solomon is talking about in these verses; today might be the day you change your life. Change it for the better! So, hmm, let’s see how this half of Proverbs 11 teaches us to live life (each Proverb is stated firstly by the New International Version, then secondly, by The Message Bible for clarity and understanding): “¹⁶ A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.” vs.^“16A woman of gentle grace (grace is God's unmerited, undeserved favor that is freely given to humanity, and is not based on human effort or worthiness, therefore she) gets respect, but men of rough violence grab for loot.” What is character? Well, first of all, it is the possession and application daily of the fruit of the Spirit-i.e., Cluster 1) love, joy, peace. Cluster 2) forbearance, kindness, goodness. Cluster 3) faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23). This wonderful woman who could be our own mom whom we all love so; we can add to her, the pursuit of truth, godliness, righteousness, meekness, compassion, thankfulness, forgiveness, contentment, and unity; she is everlasting. You might be blessed with a wonderful popa too, PTL, a loving parent is not gender specific, but they are equally wonderful. Ruthless men are as temporary as is the wealth they acquire; their treasure is not that of the eternal, and certainly not that of the love Jesus speaks to, no, it is centered upon greed, power and cruelty only for accumulation sake. Solomon contrasts grace/kindness vs. the superficial and morally bankrupt. This proverb suggests that true and enduring worth comes from integrity and compassion, not the mere accumulation of wealth, and at it’s worst through forceful means of those who are in want, that they are really seen so ugly. “¹⁷ Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.” vs.^“17When you’re kind to others, you help yourself; when you’re cruel to others, you hurt yourself.” (kindness goes a long way, so does cruelty; they are both in opposition to the another as well as extremes; the heart is seen and received by all). “¹⁸ A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.” vs.^“18Bad work gets paid with a bad check; good work gets solid pay.” (the wages of the wicked are hollow, applied without good purpose that often gets them into more trouble, while the righteous apply them for good reason and purpose that is substantial and lasting; it is living the TRUE prosperity that is fundamentally in thanksgiving in the Fear of God). “¹⁹ Truly the righteous attain life, but whoever pursues evil finds death.” vs.^“19Take your stand with God’s loyal community and live, or chase after phantoms of evil and die.” (These are two paths leading to a crossroad, one needy for to make your own choice; 1) Follow God and life will be everlasting. 2) Follow the “Big Easy” and life will be for your moment; your moment that promises death and torment - what you work for, you get). “²⁰ The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless (those of integrity and virtue)” vs. ^“20God can’t stand deceivers, but oh how he relishes integrity. (to be perverse is to show a deliberate or an obstinate desire to behave in a way that is unreasonable or unacceptable, often in spite of its consequences; the Lord does not like people like that, but he loves the blameless [to live in moral integrity, completeness, and a sincere heart toward God] because they focus their intentions and motivations on moral choices that profoundly affect their life and others). “²¹Count on this: The wicked won’t get off scot-free, and God’s loyal people will triumph.” vs. “²¹ Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.” (God is telling us, justice will be served, that all guilty parties will not go unpunished; on the other hand, God’s obedient and loyal children are victors today and always, saved are they from death and blessed forever after in comfort and hope, for their faithfulness). “²² Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.” vs.^“22Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful face on an empty head.” (Why waste gold on a pig? Why, of all places, would anyone, with any sense at all, place a gold ring in his snout? There is no way to make a pig beautiful or a woman if she is so ugly that she makes your bones rot. Either way, physical beauty is diminished without inner beauty-i.e., beautiful qualities like good judgment, wisdom, integrity, and proper behavior; outward beauty is worthless without a solid, valuable, and appropriate foundation). “²³ The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.” vs.^“23The desires of good people lead straight to the best, but wicked ambition ends in angry frustration.” (in the long run, the winners are always those who play by the rules of the game; cheating ends in frustration and dishonor … good yields more good, bad behavior and bad motivation yield nothingness and disappointment … we reap what we sow!). “²⁴ One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.” vs. ^“24The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.” (John Cassandra gave his testimony about giving; his is a story of humble beginnings, even did he once need a co-signer but today his giving is guided by abiding in the Fear of God-i.e., the principals of stewardship, humility, and prudence when making thoughtful, consistent, and even sacrificial gifts. Blessings on all who play fair and square!” (hoarding is being greedy, but sharing, even if by selling, benefits everyone; no one likes those who withhold beyond their needs-i.e., for themselves only when there is plenty enough to go round-for-all, and more). “²⁷ Whoever seeks good finds favor, but evil comes to one who searches for it.” vs.^“27The one who seeks good finds delight; the student of evil becomes evil.” (good things happen for good people, so do bad things, but, at times, the bad stuff is to learn by, so that God will bring the good to us; evil is harmful and will hurt others and bring harm upon ourselves). “²⁸ Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.” vs.^“28A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.” (to place your trust in wealth is fatefully errant; wealth against eternity is hollow, worthless, so why would anyone want to put all their trust in something worthless … wealth with faith is life everlasting – wealth without faith, is dead. That is not to say you have to have wealth to have eternal life, no, indeed that is not so; it’s just a proverb concerning wealth that Solomon, and God, wants for the wealthy to consider). “²⁹ Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be servant to the wise.” vs.^“29Exploit or abuse your family, and end up with a fistful of air; common sense tells you it’s a stupid way to live.” (Stupid is the inability to conceive intellectually effectively, its contraction is discredited by others and is often without dignity. The fool may be stupid to suppose not the common sense to see his error. If we don’t bring harmony to our own family, then like the wind, we will be as it I blown away into emptiness and loss. All our actions have consequences, severe enough to make us servitude, or even, slave.). “³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives.” vs.^“30A good life is a fruit-bearing tree; a violent life destroys souls.” (the essence of the upright is gain for all of us … evil doesn’t work that way; it buries us alive (Psalm 55:15) as to be trapped and suffocating in own wickedness, or “hoisted by your own petard”-i.e., harmed by our own plans, trap, or scheme that can destroy, or kill us and others.). “³¹ If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!” vs.^“31If good people barely make it, what’s in store for the bad!” (Good and bad are not equal bed partners; at extremes is its judgment also – compare eternal life to eternal damnation, or joy is to misery to see and know; how much more is one to the other-e.g., see Lazarus and the rich man …now you know!). You don’t have to memorize these Proverbs. When you experience them in your everyday life, you’ll be prepared because they’ll kick in for you, when and where, as needed, because they were important enough for you to have, at least, read them. You will be surprised when God speaks to you about dealing with them; you’ll be as wise as Solomon’s wisdom, but now it is yours to apply. Amen.
